Eleven Bends

The house

Walk around the house, the orchard and the terrace.

Illustrated map of Eleven Bends: the road climbs in hairpin bends to the gate at the bottom left, the orchard spreads across the left side with the Stone Cottage at its top, and the stone house sits in the middle with the Orchard Room door, the sitting room, the dining room and the Attic Room stairs, and the terrace on its far side facing the snow peaks.

The gate and the last bend

The road ends here. Mohan will be waiting with a torch if you arrive after dark.

Our story

Prakash's grandfather built this house in stone and slate, above the orchards, at the top of eleven hairpin bends. Prakash grew up here, left for a hotel job in Delhi, and spent twenty years telling guests about the hills he'd left.

In 2021 he and Hema came home, mended the roof, and opened four rooms and the old cottage to guests. Hema cooks, Prakash walks guests to the viewpoints, and Mohan meets everyone at the station.

We'd rather you booked with us directly. You talk to the people who'll actually host you, and nobody in between takes a cut.

The people

  • MohanCaretaker and driverMeets you at Kathgodam, carries your bags up the last steps, and keeps the fires going in winter.
